The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Corporate Office in Plano, TX was excited to donate more than 320 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in the Texas city.
“Last fall, I had the ability to get a group of colleagues to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was an unbelievable experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They go above and beyond providing food – they are a vital part of this community.”
Cheryl Jackson began Minnie’s Food Pantry as a way to honor her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent much of her childhood wondering if and where she would obtain her next meal. In addition to providing meals to families in need, Minnie’s also holds classes to teach families how to incorporate the food they get to make healthy, long-lasting meals. They also provide resume help along with money-management and job classes to help members of the community get back on their feet.
Since the families receive approximately 50 pounds of food to get them through the month, Service Experts was able to feed six families for the month.
“All the team members were so ecstatic that we had this food drive for the organization, and they even took time to show us their awesome facility,” Wilson said.
